Bone Cancer Surgery
Although it can start in any bone in the body, pelvic or long bones in the arms and legs are the most frequently affected. Less than 1% of all malignancies are bone cancers, making them extremely uncommon. In actuality, benign bone tumors predominate over malignant ones by a wide margin. Cancers that start somewhere else in the body and travel (metastasize) to the bone are not referred to as "bone cancer". Rather, those cancers are called after the site of their initial growth, for example, bone metastasis from breast cancer. While some forms of bone cancer mostly affect adults, others primarily affect youngsters. The most frequent course of treatment is surgical removal, although radiation therapy and chemotherapy are other options. Most bone malignancies have an unknown etiology. Hereditary factors have been implicated in a small percentage of bone malignancies, but prior radiation exposure has been connected to others.
